In December of 2024, I made the move to Edmond, Oklahoma to be closer to family and dive deeper into my art. While exploring my new surroundings, I was struck by all the beautiful and haunting details of the landscape, which inspired my latest painting: “Just Within Reach.”

This piece is a heartfelt visual love letter to my new home. I’ve always admired Andrew Wyeth’s iconic painting “Christina’s World”, and in my version, you’ll find a modern twist — a figure in a blue and white checkered dress with bright red New Balance sneakers, lying in a field as a distant tornado churns through the Oklahoma sky.

The setting is deeply personal: the field is right next to my house, and the broken windmill to the right of the painting was captured in a photo I took on my way to my parents’. The swirling debris — traffic lights and signage — are all inspired by real local spots here in Edmond.

The kite in the sky symbolizes hope, faith, and the promise of new beginnings, untouched and just within reach despite the chaos around it.

This painting comes signed, dated on both the front, back and comes ready to hang. This piece is also coated with a matte finish UV-resistant clear coat to ensure long-lasting vibrant colors!
